Performer Drop-Off & Pick-Up Location:
All performers will enter and leave via the Stage Door of the Esplanade Recital Studio. (Performers do not enter the seating area)
Parents will drop off their child at the Stage Door, and will be assisted by our happy pianist teachers and ushers.
The Esplanade Stage Door is located at Mezzanine Level at Esplanade. Go to the level of Esplanade Box Office (Mezzanine Level), exit through the right door, and turn right.

What To Prepare
1. Performers are advised to arrive at the Esplanade Stage Door, in your performance attire.
Parents can assist to change their kids into the performance attire in the public washroom at Esplanade Box Office level.
There are dressing rooms at the backstage for performers to do final touch up before going on stage.
2. Do have your lunch/dinner before arriving at the Stage Door. The Happy Music Festival team will provide some snacks for the performers.
3. Bring along a water bottle. There is water dispenser in the Backstage.
4. Bring a jacket as the backstage may be cold.
5. You can bring your music score, and perform on stage with your score. Or perform by memory. Both are okay.
6. For *Parents & Friends*, flowers and gifts for performers will be deposited at the entrance until performance is over. As per Esplanade rules, they are not allowed into the recital studio.
FAQ
1. What happens once I reach the Stage Door?
We have an usher stationed at the stage door to receive the performers (kids and adults), and we will hand the performer a Backstage Access pass.
The usher will then escort the performers to the dressing room to put their belongings and proceed to warm up before the concert starts.
2. Do performers have time to warm up before the performance?
Yes. There is a piano in the backstage room, and each performer has 1 min to warm up on the piano.
3. What happens when the concert starts?
Our Backstage manager will get all performers ready in their performance sequence and prepare to enter the stage to perform.
4. What happens after a performer has completed his/her performance?
Once the performance has ended, the performer will return back to the Backstage area. He/she will remain in the Backstage/dressing room until the final segment, where all performers will proceed to the stage for prize presentation and photo taking.
Piano accompanists for violinists can leave the Backstage via the Stage Door right after the performance ends. Accompanist are not required to stay.
5. Will there be a pedal extender?
Yes, pedal extender is available. The stage usher will fix the pedal extender for you before you start your performance.
6. Do you have a music stand?
Yes, we have music stands.
7. I’ll be playing duet on the piano. Is there a longer bench?
Yes, we have longer bench for duet playing.
8. Can I perform with scores?
Yes, you can decide to perform with or without scores.
9. Can the performer walk to the seats of the Recital Studio to watch the rest of the concert after he/she completed his own performance?
No. The performer has to return to the backstage. He/she can watch the performance at the backstage.
10. Can parents & friends go up the stage to present flowers and gifts to their performer child/friend?
No. Parents/friends/audiences are not allowed to step up onto the stage after the concert ends. Performers will exit via the Stage Door after the concert ends, and parents/friends/audiences can arrange to meet them there.
